Escape Room Game
The Escape Room game is a free game that can be played directly on your browser, or downloaded onto your windows computer. It features 6 different minigames which each target different skills used in day to day life.
You can choose to do the “regular” mode, where 3 minigames are randomly selected from different categories. In this mode, the student will receive a score from each category ranging from 0 - 4000. This allows you to see how well they did, and what they might need to improve on. Just click PLAY and choose your difficulty, ranging from Easy to Hard.
Alternatively, you can choose the freeplay option. This allows any minigame to be played in any order you wish. This allows the student to play their favorite, or practice with one specific skill/minigame they might be struggling with. Just click FREE PLAY, choose the difficulty level with the slider (left is easy, right is hard), and click the icon that represents the minigame you wish to play.
The game also features a cut art style and cheery background music and sound effects. The sound effects and music can be controlled with the settings button on the title screen. Just click the button that looks like a gear to open and close it.
There are 3 main categories of minigames. Each category has 2 minigames, however these minigames might have more skills than just the category they are placed in.
Memory - Memory minigames include Card Memory and Simon Says. In Card Memory, you will have to look at all the cards and try to memorize where they all are. Once you think you’ve memorized them, just click the READY button to begin. All the cards will flip over, and you have to click them to try and make matches.
In Simon Says, there will be animals that wiggle and make a sound. You have to watch the pattern they make and click on the animals to repeat the pattern. It starts with 1 animal, but adds another each time. On top of trying to memorize the pattern, students will have to use patience by waiting for the entire pattern to complete before clicking stuff. Just click the READY button, watch the pattern, and repeat it by clicking the same monsters in the same order.
Visual Discrimination - Visual discrimination minigames include Alien Sorting and Monster Spot. In Alien Sorting, there will be 2 boxes and several aliens. You must put the correct alien the in correct box. In easier modes, they can simply look at the colors, but in harder difficulties, they will need to learn to tell them apart with their faces. Just click the READY button. The aliens will spawn, then you can click, hold, and drag the aliens around.
In Monster Spot, you will be given 3 to 4 different monsters. One of them will look different from the others, and you have to click the numbered button underneath the correct one. Simply click the READY button, and take a look at all the monsters before making your choice.
Reflexes - Reflex minigames include Bug Blaster and Pong. In Bug Blaster, multiple bugs will jump onto the screen, and you have to click them to “blast” them. Once you have blasted them all, you win. Simply click the READY button, and click the bugs as fast as you can. On top of using the student's reflexes, it will also use hand eye coordination, as they will need to see the bugs, and move their mouse to it before clicking.
In Pong, there will be a red bouncy ball, your paddle, and the enemy’s paddle. The red ball will bounce around the screen, and you will have to move your paddle with the mouse in order to hit the ball back to the opponent. Once you do it enough times, the opponent gives up. Simply click the READY button. The ball will start moving, and you need to be ready to move your paddle. On Top of reflexes, the student will need to utilize prediction and spatial awareness, because they will need to understand how the ball will bounce off the walls and predict where it’s going to move.
This game was made in the Godot game engine. It was created by Drake from the Benton High School EAST class.
